In this article I will be covering a few questions I have gotten in the last few weeks on Instagram about cloth diapering I will also link below my other cloth diapering post.
All of my cloth diapering post.—> Cloth diapering
Q: How often do you strip your cloth diapers?
A: This might shock y’all I’ve actually never striped my cloth diapers.
Elizabeth has been using her Nora’s Nursery diapers for over a year now and I haven’t stripped them. Some people like to strip them every other months etc..
I’ve never had a problem with my diapers either so I don’t feel I need to strip them. Now if they weren’t working as well, smelled ETC I would strip them. But I’ve never had a problem with them.
Q: Why do I use them?
A: I wrote a blog post about that a few months ago, So here is the link! 🙂
Q: What detergent do I like to use on my cloth diapers?
A: To much surprise I’m still on the hunt for a “clean” detergent for our diapers I was using Mr,Meyers laundry soap. Then I found out how green washed it was.
As soon as I’m out of Mr,Meyers laundry soap I am thinking of switching to
Branch Basics Now I’ve heard that “soap” type laundry detergent can be hard on your washers. But I have a older washer so I’m not to worried about it!
Q: Yeast infection-How to clean diapers and when to go back to cloth.
A: Now I have never dealt with this personally.
But You need to strip your cloth diapers, cloth wipes, wet bags ETC anything that has touch or been in contact with the yeast. I’ve heard a lot of people using “GroVia Mighty bubbles” Soak your diapers in hot water with one or two pac of the GroVia and give them a extra rinse before your normal wash.
You should switch to a disposable diaper until the rash is fully cleared for at least 48 hours.
Now you don’t have to use disposables. You can still use your cloth diapers and just make sure you are using a liner in between your diaper and babies bum.
You will have to treat your cloth diapers each time they are washed while treating the yeast on your baby. Depending how often you are washing and how long the treatment lasts, this could be 2-3 times. Continue to treat diapers for at least 1 week after yeast rash has completely healed to prevent a recurrence.
Q: Can you use them on newborns?
A: Yes!!! Now most cloth diapers are for 8 pounds and up. So they will be pretty big on your newborn but it can be done.
They also have Newborn cloth diapers. So you can get all newborn diapers.
Q: How many times can you use them before washing?
A: Pocket diapers you have to change every time the diaper and the insert, Covers if your little one just peed you can take the flat out and wiped down the shell and reuse it. I will link below a blog post talking about all the different types of cloth diapers .
Q: Do I have to wash everyday?
A: No! Unless you don’t have many diapers and want to wash everyday. I have around 30 diapers. And I normally wash every 3 days which still leaves me enough diapers for the next day while my others are drying.
I hope this was helpful to you! If you have any other questions, Please leave them in the comments below and I will get back with you! 🙂
